i’ll rust for you

graphite and ink on paper, 2022

i’ll rust for you is a 6-page poetry comic born out of walking meditations over the summer. i don’t love these drawings: i made them outside, too quickly, on paper too textured for the medium. however they maintain some of what i was feeling at the time: a satisfying romanticism without a desired outlet, the sweetness of a lyrical cycle with no purpose or direction, the hum of summer creatures, falling in love with my neighborhood. the comic reminds me of a song that could be sung in rounds.
